Do We Love God More Than {Fill In The Blank}

Do I sincerely LOVE GOD more than...

Father
Mother
Husband
Sister
Brother
Children

....

you can fill in the blank with what you treasure the most on this earth.

Sometimes I (sinfully) entertain negative thoughts of the "what ifs" in life.

What if something ever happened to my husband?  Lord, how could I possibly go on.?

Oh Lord, what if something ever happened to one of my children?

The fact is, I need to daily cultivate my relationship with HIM, so much in fact, that I LOVE HIM far above family, time, or possessions.

Do I trust that He holds my very breath in the palm of His hand?

Do I choose to honor His Sovereignty and release the white-knuckle control of my life, over to Him?

The thing is... He is God.  There is no changing Him.  It is my job just to trust that He does know best.

Do you struggle with this?  Loving other earthly things (especially the people most dear to us) more than God?

God can take anything away from us in an instant... then what?

Will we {I} still choose to trust and honor Him?

Luke 14:26 "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

  1. It's so hard to wrap our mind with thinking that *our, husbands, children, family etc* are not ours bit His!!!! that He choose to bless us with them, but that they are His and He can take them away whenever He chooses, so hard, so hard!!!

  2. This is good reading right here Traci. I have spent some time in my life ANGRY because of what was going on in my life. The God I know would not let the kind of stuff I was dealing with happen. But I was wrong for being angry. I didn't take the time to focus on the good He was creating for me. I have learned to place God first, and I am truly understanding His way, His reasons, and His purpose. Thank you for the wonderful uplifting post.

  3. Traci- Good reminder of where our priorties should be. I was reading the book of Job recently. This is what Job said: The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Absolutely amazing!
