The Magnolia tree has timber that is hard and heavy; all the while maintaining its delicate, white, fragrant flowers!

I am ever-endeavouring to be like the Magnolia...

strong in character and conviction,

firm in upholding truth,

all the while remaining grace-filled in the

meditations of my heart and the words that cross my lips;

that I may be a mere reflection of Jesus in all I do.

Ephesians 5:2 "And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma."

Pondering grace, truth and love today:

Just because one stands up for truth does not mean there is an absence of love and grace...

Just because one stands up for grace does not mean there is the presence of love and truth...

We need to be balanced in all things and bring everything before the Lord in prayer.

Your thoughts?

Raising Witches?

Evil and witchcraft is all around us.  It is in our movies, television shows, and even dumbed down and made to look innocent, thrown into the Disney channel.

My eyes have been opened (once again) this week to the spiritual battle that is around us.

More than ever, we need to stand up as Christian families to raise our sons and daughters to love and serve the Lord.

There is a great host of women around us that are professing witches.  They are raising their children to be witches too.  They are teaching them to love darkness, rather than light.

Who is the Light?  Jesus!  John 14:6 says that He is the way, the truth and the life and no man cometh unto the Father but by Him.

Not through Satan.

Not through evil works of darkness.

Not through witchcraft.

Yes, one is free to have "faith" in darkness, but it is NOT THE TRUTH.

God is a mighty God.  He is more powerful (for Light defeats the darkness) and He already has won the battle on the cross of Calvary!

1 Thes. 5:22
King James Version:
"Abstain from all appearance of evil."
Amplified version:
"Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be."
Message version:
"On the other hand, don't be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what's good. Throw out anything tainted with evil."

Ephesians 6:12
King James version:  "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Amplifed version: "For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere."

1 Peter 5:8:King James version: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
Amplifed version:  "Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [[a]in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour."
NLT version:  "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."

For me (I cannot judge other's motives) that is why I've dropped out of this contest.  I'm "throwing out that which is tainted with evil."-1 Thes. 5:22

I desire to be associated with the truth of Christianity rather than with what Circle Of Moms defines as "faith":

"Faith is all around us, and it comes in many different forms"

@ Heather wrote in the comments (and I thought this was a great reminder):

"Speak His blessings over these precious women who are searching for something to fill the God-shaped hole in their hearts. They are women and moms on the same journey as all of us but have been caught up in the enemy's schemes. Pray for each one by name and don't fear."

Feeling Unmotivated? 6 Easy Ways To Get Recharged!

What do you do when you have a serious lack of motivation?  Here are 6 easy things I do:

1) Put technology away.
Put away your computer, phone, ipad, and all other techno devices.  It's wonderful having such a connection with the outside world, but it can certainly zap your motivational drive!

2) Get out of your pajamas and take a shower.
I know this sounds silly, but days can get away from us and a nice warm shower can be easily pushed aside.  Taking a shower first thing in the morning is a quick way to get motivated.

3) Start organizing stuff.
Start with one room/one level of your home at a time.  Put on some good music and get organizing!  Return things to their rightful place.  Throw away stray papers and junk.  Pack away clothes that don't fit into the current season.

4) Accomplish one thing you have been putting off.
What's one thing you have been constantly ignoring?  Buckle down and do it.  You'll feel great!  Just one thing a day...

5) Put away the junk food!
Junk food is a quick fix for satisfaction, but it certainly can drain your energy and leave you feeling sluggish.  Instead, down a couple glasses of water and eat some fresh fruit and/or veggies.

6) Make a list of people you can encourage.
Pray about who might need some encouragement.  Send them a card or give them a call to let them know you are praying for them and you care!

The Local Church, The Family Unit, & The Bible Are Under Attack

The local church, the family unit, and the Bible are under attack by Christians and non-Christians alike.

Do you believe that these 3 things are worth standing up for?

If so, what are your thoughts?  I know that God is a big God and He is in control...

On another note... I am choosing not to be polluted by all of the negative "press" against them.

What I believe:

1) The local church (although flawed) is very important to me. (Matthew 18:15-20), (Hebrews 10:24-25)

2) The family unit (how God intended it to be- marriage between man and woman) is worth fighting for. (Genesis 2:24)

3) The Bible is 100% inspired by God and without error.  My God is sufficient to preserve it throughout the generations. (Isaiah 30:8) , (2 Timothy 3:16-17

This Song Has Been On Repeat Today

Enjoy!  I know you'll love it...

Purify this tainted soul

I'm tired of living life a fool

Soften up this hardened clay

To be a servant, this I pray

A reflection of You, I long to be

So Your kingdom I will seek

I surrender to Your throne

Oh, I surrender to Your throne

I will make my heart Your home

Oh, I surrender to Your throne

I've taken things I thought my own

Only to reap what I've sown

You've given back the years I fought

An ending love and grace You've brought

Eternal hope and peace You bring

And forever unto You I will sing

I surrender to Your throne

Oh, I surrender to Your throne

And I will make my heart Your home

Oh, I surrender to Your throne

Forever unto You I will sing

Forever unto You I will sing

Forever unto You I will sing

Forever unto You I will sing

I surrender

I surrender

I surrender, now

Oh, I surrender

And I surrender

And I surrender, now

Oh, I surrender

I surrender

I surrender

Oh, I surrender

I surrender

I surrender, now

Soften Up this hardened clay

To be a servant, this I pray.

Pick Up Some Stones

In the trials and chaos of living, we can forgot all that God has done for us.  I've been reading in Joshua and this passage struck me:

Joshua 4:5-7
And Joshua said to them: “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.”

In 1 Peter 3:15 it talks about giving an answer to every man the reason of the HOPE that is within us.  How can we give them an answer if we aren't paying attention (and REMEMBERING) what the Lord has done for us?

Do you need to take a moment and pick up some stones today?

Clearing The Clutter Helps Calm Children

Does this look like your child's bedroom?

Did you know that clearing your home of clutter and staying organized can calm your hyper child?  Don't get me wrong, I know (as a mother of a 4 and 2 year old) how quickly messes can happen!  And realistically they will...

I've tried it.

We've not been able to see our rug after a morning "play session".  Kids are crazy.  Mom is stressed.  Things are out of control.

We all pitch in and clean up the house.  A minute later the kids are much calmer and happier (and so is Mommy)!

1. Many children have difficulty staying calm in a hectic environment.

2. The "less is more" approach helps reduce sensory overload which can cause stress and hyperactivity.

3. Clutter can make kids feel out of control.

10 Tips For Clearing The Clutter & Getting Organized

1. Don't hold onto everything.
2. Get rid of things you don't need (donate or sell).
3. Get some bins to throw toys into.
4. Sort and simplify.
5. Label bins and storage units.
6. Teach kids to pick up after themselves.
7. Have specified locations for stuff.
8. Put things back in their rightful place.
9. When your child receives new toys, let them donate some old ones.
10. Have one day a week where you go through closets and drawers; throw away scraps of paper, broken toys, mismatched items, etc.

Do you have any tips for keeping your kid's STUFF contained?

10 Things Praying For Your Husband Does For You {The Wife}

I must confess that I forget to pray for my husband (more often than not).  Oh yes, I think about him, text him throughout the day, and anticipate his return in the evening... but pray?  I forget.

What does praying for your husband do for you {the wife}?

1) It keeps your thoughts pure.
2) It keeps your mind and heart positive about him.
3) It keeps you humble.
4) It keeps you safe (there is protection in God's will).
5) It keeps you in communion with your Heavenly Father.
6) It keeps you content.
7) It keeps you watchful for God's blessings in his life.
8) It keeps you eager for answered prayer in his life.
9) It keeps you free from a negative spirit.
10) It keeps your words praise-worthy about him in front of your children.

Do you struggle with remembering to pray for your husband?  Try this with me:

At the top of each hour, spend 2 minutes praying for him {specifically}.  Do this between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm (give or take depending on your schedule).  THAT'S 20 MINUTES A DAY!

8 am (Pray for his walk with the Lord)
9 am (Pray for his purity)
10 am (Pray for his friendships)
11 am (Pray for his witness)
12 am (Pray for his work to be honorable)
1 pm (Pray for him as a father)
2 pm (Pray for his safety)
3 pm (Pray for God to bless him)
4 pm (Pray for God's strength in his life)
5 pm (Pray for his visions and dreams)

Will you join me in this?  Meet me back next week and we'll see how it made a difference.  Consider printing this schedule and taping it to a 3x5 card.

Don't want to miss out?  Meet me over here.

When It Seems Like Your Parenting Isn't Making A Difference

10 Things To Remember When It Seems Like Your Parenting Isn't Making A Difference

No matter what stage of parenting you are in (newborn, toddler, young child, pre-teen, teen, or adult child) or all of the above if you are Michelle Duggar, lol,  you will always be a parent; and it never gets easier (just different).  I've heard that even when your children are out of the house, you still worry about them just as much.

1. Don't Give Up!  We All Turned Out Ok.
2. Keep Lovin' On Them Where They Are At.
3. Always Reinforce Good Manners.
4. Set The Biblical Tone Of The Home.
5. Stick To Your Convictions, Be Consistent!
6. Pray Specifically For Them.
7. Worship And Serve As A Family.
8. Don't Compare Them In Your Mind With Your Other Children.
9. Don't Compare Them To Your Friend's Children.
10. Say These Words When You Sin Against Them: I'm Sorry, Will You Forgive Me?

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates."

Good Days Can Be Filled With Flat Tires and Flared Tempers

What is your idea of a good day?

The words cross my lips; oh, this has been one awful day!  Some days, few and far between, I can honestly say, WOW, this has been a really great day!

I tend to be an all or nothing person.

With weight-loss, it's all or nothing.
With cleaning my house, it's all or nothing.
With my bible reading, it's all or nothing.

Why is that?  Am I measuring my worth on whether or not I can cross all my "t's" and dot all of my "i's".  If it doesn't look perfect, then it's not good enough?  What's that all about?

My mind takes me back to the dreaded days I spent indoors practicing the piano.  As my fingers hit the keys, I could hear the carefree laughter and screams from neighbor kids. While practicing, if I messed up... even one tiny note, I would start all over; I wouldn't continue to the finish.

With reading books, I start one book and it's usually on to the next pile of 5 waiting for me before I have finished.  I start new projects and never complete them if I can't conquer the task at hand.

I think it is tied to not feeling good enough.  As though I could really attain perfection?

Do you think that might be why you do these very same things?  Think about your childhood.  Did you have a person in your life that you were constantly trying to earn approval from?

How about if we throw away the UNREALISTIC IDEA that a day has to be "good" or "bad" and realize that we are complete and loved by an awesome GOD!

Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord.  Thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

Good days can be filled with flat tires, flared tempers, and un-met goals and still be good days!

Bad days can be finished with unexpected joys and laughter of the soul!

Be hopeful today; it doesn't have to be all or nothing!

Since You Called Me To Be A Mom

A Mother's Day Poem ~ Author Unknown

Dear Lord, it's such a hectic day
With little time to stop and pray

For life's been anything but calm
Since You called on me to be a mom
Running errands, matching socks

Building dreams with building blocks

Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes

And other stuff that children lose

Fitting lids on bottled bugs

Wiping tears and giving hugs
A stack of last weeks mail to read
So where's the quiet time I need?

Yet when I steal a minute, Lord

Just at the sink or ironing board

To ask the blessings of Your grace

I see then, in my small one's face

That you have blessed me

All the while
And I stop to kiss
That precious smile

Go Buy Some Heels!

Outer Beauty | Beauty Week 4

Sometimes making a new purchase (with your husband's approval of course) can give us a boost when it comes to our beauty.  It doesn't have to be much (and is NOT the answer by any means).  But it can help!

Don't go crazy. Pick a time when you have a little extra cash. Be frugal, but buy something you really enjoy.

Allow your dollar to go further than just one item!  Maybe go to a local thrift store. Purchase your favorite perfume? By a new pair of high heels? Whatever makes YOU, feel pretty. Maybe some new lingerie?  (FYI: don't buy lingerie at a thrift store!)

Inner Beauty | Beauty Week 4

Have realistic expectations and don't compare yourself with others!  Us women have a tendency to compare ourselves with others.  How do THEY keep their house so clean?  They always seem so put together, so spiritual?  Why can't I be like that?  The Lord has us in the place and situations we are in for a time.  Do your very best, with the resources you have, to glorify Him.  We will all travel at different paces, have different life experiences, and lead different walks of life.  Embrace your life, and be content where He has you now.

If you've missed the past 3 weeks of inner and outer beauty, grab the button on the bottom of my sidebar.

Americans will use any excuse to eat some good grub!  Cinco De Mayo; bring on the salsa, guacamole, and chips!  The picture below is from Mexico last year.  There's nothing like homemade guacamole made right in front of you!

When my husband and I were in Mexico, we got to visit the Mayan Ruins!  It was beautiful!

Here are some fun Mexican dishes I found in honor of Cinco De Mayo.  I hope you enjoy them!

and for dessert...............
