How To Make Your Own Frappe!

Save money and make your own FRAPPUCCINO from home!  Have some girlfriends over and serve this to them over a summer brunch!  What a cool and refreshing treat. 

My personal favorite: Caramel Frappe!

1/2 cup coffee (strong)
2 Tablespoons of Folgers Caramel Groove Cafe Latte Mix
1/2 cup milk
Hershey's Caramel Ice Cream Topping
Whipped cream
4 cups of ice

1) Fill your blender almost to the top with the ice.
2) Add the milk.
3) Dissolve the latte mix in with your coffee and add to blender.
4) Blend on medium to high speed until you reach the desired consistency.  *Add more milk if too thick/more ice if too watery
5) Top with whipped cream and caramel.

* Simply alter ingredients to fit your flavor (mocha, hazelnut, vanilla, etc)!

Are You Weary?

Are you weary today, dear friend?  Do you feel like there is a lot of sowing going on in your life, without a lot of reaping?  God promises in His Word that we will reap the benefits of sowing good seed! 

Continue to persevere!  Swimmer Florence May Chadwick desired to break the record and swim from Catalina Isle to California.  After swimming 15 hours and 55 minutes in freezing cold water, dense fog, sharks, and other threatening circumstances, Chadwick gave up.  After getting into the rescue boat, she found out she was only half a mile from reaching her destination!  {BIG SIGH}  The thick fog blinded her view of the destination...

What's blinding your view?  Are you ready to give up because you can't see the destination or the fruit?  Don't!  You may just be less than a mile away! 

Don't forget to set your affection upon that which lasts for eternity...

Young Boys

Eating My Placenta

I will try just about anything when it comes to food... almost.  Did you know people eat their placenta?  I'm all for being healthy, but I just can't even entertain the thought of eating my placenta.  It is still just a yucky after-birth that is meant to be discarded, in my opinion.   

There are also things you should never search for in google images... "eating your placenta" is one of them!  Looking for some new recipes


Give me my green-leafy veggies, protein, and water... and leave the placenta off my plate, thank you very much!

Inspiring Our Children To Follow God's Purposes

I'm reading The Ministry Of Motherhood by, Sally Clarkson and boy it's good!

Sally says in chapter 6, "But what a privilege it is to have been included in bringing about this miracle of calling.  What a great idea god had to use mothers as a part of that process--of helping to inspire our children to God's purposes and walking alongside them as they learn to make the choice of leaving the world.

Matthew 6:19-21,24
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."

Most of the time I feel my days consist of refereeing, teaching mundane tasks, trying to force down somewhat balanced meals, and getting to bed without any blow-ups or melt-downs (I'm talking about mommy)!  Maybe you feel the same.

But, in it all... we have a much grander purpose!  We have the privilege to come alongside them and point them to Jesus!  We can say things like, "Susie, you have such a bright personality.  Maybe God will use you in ___________ way?"

In chapter 5 Sally says, "As mothers, we have the hearts and trust of our children from the earliest moments of their lives, and they need us for so many reasons.  They naturally look to us for physical sustenance, protection, affection.  Deep in their hearts, however, they also long for a special place to belong, a place to feel their worth, and they need us to help them find it.  These special children were designed to fulfill a purpose for God by bringing His glory to bear through their lives."

What did you find was your best way to relax during natural labor?

c) Standing (swaying with husband)
d) Sitting on the toilet
e) Dark room with or without music
f) Technique breathing
g) A combination of some of these
h) A different method

This is my first time attempting natural labor.  I'm 29 weeks pregnant and would love some advice from ladies who have labored naturally.

Standing Up For What's Right Should Never Look Ugly

We get on our soapbox like it's ours to own.  Head held high, chin up, feet firm.  We do not waiver.  Pride is the fuel that ignites the passion.  I call it something different.  Something more patible to the self-esteem.

Even when standing up for what we think is right, there is a caution.  Take heed lest ye fall.  You (I) do not have the final answer in any matter.

God has, and always will have, the final answer... we are just instruments of His love and grace. 

So remain true to your convictions.  Stand firm.  But never be ugly about it.  It is simply not Christ-like.  It's actually the opposite.
