Through My Camera...A Saturday Drive

As a busy mommy, sometimes I wish I could just hop in my car and take a drive... looking at the countryside.  Well this afternoon, it was just me and my little buddy, and we did just that!

It was a beautiful evening to say the least, and my little riding partner was so patient with me as I stopped and captured God's glorious creation...  take a look:

FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY...write for 5 minutes.  Don't edit.  Just write.  {it's really not that scary}

Word prompt: Still

I've been anything BUT still lately.  My husband tells me I need to pace myself... to know my own limitations and take a step back when it gets "too much".  I know he is right, and yet, I make my own excuses.  It's nesting.  I'm a woman.  I need to finish what I start. Why do we {I} place the highest expectations on ourselves?  I go go go... and never stop until I'm done.

I exhaust myself.
I get angry.

I ooze frustration and it poisons those around me.
I'm reminded to be still.

To stop.
Why is that so hard?

I have a wooden frame in my dining room that says,

"Let us be silent that we may hear the whisper of God."

I haven't been silent long enough to hear His sweet whispers.

I haven't been silent long enough to hear anything above my own madness.
I haven't been still...

Have you been like me?  Are you rolling down a hill in one of those hamster wheels, the inertia whirring, ready to knock down anyone in your path?

This is not God's will for our life... let HIM put on the brakes by stopping and sipping from the LIVING WORD!

Psalm 46:10
"Be still and know that I am God."

"Be still and know that I am God."

"Be still and know that I am God."

Sometimes I have to repeat things 3 times in order to "get it".  Have you "got it"?

So, Riley and I went to Lowes Saturday afternoon to buy paint for the nursery. While in line waiting for someone to take our order a lady about 15 ft away was mumbling to herself about thinking she lost her credit card.

About 2 seconds later she starts ranting and raving about "Rochester people" and how "Rochester people" are so rude and never help. She then practically drags the poor girl behind the paint counter from her job and demands that she help her search for her credit card.

{my mouth might have been wide open at this time}

Huffing and puffing, 2 minutes later, no card to be found. She then says, "I JUST KNOW someone stole my credit card... that's what people do in Rochester, not where I'm from"...

2 seconds later someone points out to her that her credit card is stuck under her ARM PIT!

{i might have laughed out loud at this point}

Stuck up has dual meaning in this story...

Young At Heart

Have you ever tried to write a blog post without thinking... just write?  It's hard... well, I thought it would be harder.  It actually is quite freeing!  I'm linking up with the Gypsy Mama @ 5 Minute Friday.  Would you like to give it a try?  Here's my first stab at it.

I walk along a bed of stream... full of fish and turtles and moss.  I hear the rush of the current; I can feel it beat against my breast.  I feel the power of nature; of Him.

I have always loved water.  Streams, creeks (some say "crick"), lakes, oceans... I'll take it any way you can provide.

I slip off my shoes and socks and my feet feel sticky and warm.  I sit on the edge of the bridge and place them in the cold water.

I am refreshed.

I walk along jagged rocks and pick up stones that intrigue me.

It is dusk now.  The day has escaped me and I don't have a care in the world.

I am young; about the awkward age of {eleven}.

Summer days as a child... filled with wild excitement and new adventures.

That is what I want for my children... to stay as simple and innocent... for as long as they can.

Keep feeding your children care-free, summer-filled days... all throughout the year.  It will keep them young... and it will keep you young-at-heart as well!
