Clear The Stage

As I listed to Phil Vischer speak tonight (and do all of the amazing Veggie Tales voices) at the Allume conference, I was amazed to hear him talk about his real life fame (high moment in life) to his low, (bankruptcy).  He had many profound quotes in his speech, but one hit me the hardest ( you know the kind where that ball in your throat threatens to make you utter an ugly cry and you choke it back):

"If you can willingly put your dreams on the alter and live without them, in His will, you are ready to be used by Him!"

And then the wonderful Sarah Mae got up and spoke about keeping your real life, and not letting the online world become an idol.  This song speaks to my heart and I so can't help worshiping.  True worship comes when you sit alone and wait for God to whisper.  It's the blisters on your knees from being on bended knee.  It's being all consumed by Him, not this world or the things in it.  Please take a moment to listen to this song if you haven't already.

Lyrics:

Clear the stage and set the sounds and lights ablaze if
that's the measure you must take to crush the idols.

Jerk the pews and all the decorations too, until the congregations few that have revival.

Tell your friends that this is where the party ends,
until your broken for your sins you can't be social.

Seek the Lord and wait for what He has in store, and
know that great is your reward so just be hopeful.

Cause you can sing all you want to
Yes you can, sing all you want to
You can sing all you want to and still get it wrong
Oh worship is more than a song.

Take a break from all the plans that you have made, and
sit at home alone and wait for God to whisper.

Beg Him please to open His mouth and speak and pray for
real upon your knees until they blister.

Shine the light on every corner of your life until the
pride, and lust, and lies are in the open

Then read the Word and put to test the things you've
heard until your heart and soul are stirred and rocked and broken

Cause you can sing all you want to
Oh you can sign all you want to
You can sign all you want to, and still get it wrong
Oh worship is more than a song.

We must not worship something that's not even worth it

Clear the stage, make some space for the one who deserves it.

Anything I put before my God is an idol
Anything I want with all my heart is an idol
Anything I can't stop thinking of is an idol
and anything that I give all my live is an idol

Clear the stage and set the sounds and lights ablaze if
that's the measure you must take to crush the idols.
