Memorizing & Meditating On Scripture

This is what I'm memorizing and meditating on today!  It's so important to hide God's Word in your heart.  What are you working on memorizing?  If you aren't, pick a passage and get to it!  You'll be blessed!

The Only Way To Truly Walk By Faith

"So faith comes from hearing,
and hearing through the Word of God."

I cannot please God apart from faith.  It is impossible.  If it's your desire to please God, go lay down all that you have at His feet, and trust Him completely.  Lay down the thing most precious to you.  What I treasure shows where my heart is at.  Deny yourself and take up His cross; this is the ultimate sacrifice to a life of discipleship and loyalty to our King of Kings.

If I say I love Him, I will obey His commandments.
I will experience true and full joy.

Faith, apart from the Word of God, is not true faith.  Faith comes from hearing the Word of God, and making a choice to fully obey and trust our Savior.

Are you moving forward in faith?

By faith, you can.

Go to the Word of God.

Listen.

Then obey.

Don't Let A Strain In Your Chain Turn Into A Break

I love setting goals and pushing myself to achieve them.  In the beginning, I have all my ambitious ideas scratched out on paper with every intention of keeping them.  The first few days, even the first few weeks are down right magical.  Then the day comes where I wake up and have lost all sense of motivation and drive. Are you with me?  Have you experienced this?

There will be days when we are tired, unmotivated and fear starts to creep into the mind.  See, you are just going to fail again, just give up!  This is when the link in the chain is strained.

Your adversary knows that if he can discourage you enough to defeat you, he has broken your drive to succeed and proclaim Christ's power.  Don't let him win.

Different things that can put a strain in your chain:

fear of failure
apathy
rejection
discouragement
tired and weary days
harsh critics
playing the victim

Ways to mend the chain:

think positive (Proverbs 23:7: as a man thinks in his heart, so is he)
remind yourself of your goals
remind yourself of the reasons you want to achieve your goals
make the goals yours for the taking
regain your drive and passion
remember that a strain does not equal a break
Don't let a strain turn into a break in your chain.  A strain in a chain can be mended; a break divides the chain and halts further grown.

Don't let your bad days turn your goals into failures.  You have a choice to make each day:  will you let your failures and mistakes define you and defeat you, or will you rise above them, motivated to push even harder and with greater intensity?

What My Mama Did That Made Her Mine

Today's a little different over at Five Minute Friday.  Normally we are given a word prompt to write about for five minutes.  Today, we are given a challenge:

"In just five minutes. Tell me all about what your mama did that made her yours….{and don’t forget to spend some time commenting on the post of the person who linked up just before you}"
GO:

She creates beauty in the everyday ugliness.

She exudes strength, when others are weak.

She cleans up messes all day long; the physical, spiritual and mental.

She loves to cook and ministers to the soul through her hospitable heart.

She has a nick name for everything animate and inanimate.

She is silly and youthful; she'll never grow up.

She let me lay on her soft lap as a child as she caressed my hair (the times when I was vulnerable and sick).

She created memories during the holidays with fireplaces and music and laughter.

She taught me what hard work looks like.

She shows me what hard work looks like.

She told me that cleaning my home would not always get recognition and that I needed to even clean my toilets unto the Lord. (Colossians 3:23)

She loved the unlovable and welcomed the broken and beaten and trodden down into our home as her own.

She said no when other moms were always saying yes.

She said no, and it saved me from a world of mistakes and heartache.

She reminded me that I wouldn't always feel in love with my husband, and on those days, love is a choice and a commitment... forever.

She let us play long and hard outside.

She told me every choice to obey God has a blessing, and every choice to disobey has a consequence.

She was always there when I got home from school; even at age 18.

She's had the same, worn out Bible since as far back as I can remember.

She treasures that Bible, beaten up, underlined, and lived out.

She loves her sweet Daddy who is in a home with dementia and always called her precious lady.

I hope to be half the mama she was to me...

I hope to instill memories and laughter and God-inspired living before my children.

I will... day, by day, by day, with the Lord's help.

I will choose, to abide in His love.

I will choose, to make His heart my home.

I will choose, to rest in Him and exude His grace and joy.
